The Urology Health Symposium was held on April 7, 2012, at the RC Jefferson Family Life Center, in Houston, Texas. This symposium was sponsored by Houston Metro Urology (www.hmutx.com ). Madame Yvonne Olusi, President, FBCBNA, welcomed the group. Mrs. Cynthia Hickman, Chaplain, FBCBNA, gave the invocation.

The Urology Health symposium provided nurses an opportunity to update their knowledge and skills, in the field of urology. Dr. Sam Axelrad discussed the main causes of
overactive bladder. Dr. Carl Ogletree reviewed a plan for female incontinence. Dr. Larry Baum explained the benefits of robotic prostatectomy. Dr. Mark Sutton described the
procedures and options of vasectomy and vasectomy reversal. Dr. Zvi Schiffman explored the importance of screening, early detection, and treatment of prostate cancer.

The Urology Health Symposium was a successful, educational event. Five continuing education units were given to nurses who attended the entire session. Attendees enjoyed breakfast and lunch while networking. Participants also purchased items from an array of vendors. FBCBNA looks forward to hosting another symposium in the Spring of 2013.
