Scholarship Recipients

FBCBNA gave three scholarships to nursing students. They were presented to the following recipients, at the FBCBNA President’s Scholarship and Awards Ball, April 18, 2016, in Houston, Texas.



Jazmine Lanes – sponsored by Yvonne & Chudy Ogadi

 Jazmine is enrolled inthe Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Houston Baptist University.

She has volunteered at the Southside Church of Christ Food Pantry and the Back to School Rally where she served on the planning committee. She has also served on the Breast Cancer Survivors Ministry through this church.

She has spoken at the FBCBNA Nursing Youth Outreach Program to promote nursing as a career choice.

She is a member of the Nursing Student Association at HBU.

Jazmine plans to work in Houston in Neonatal Nursing, as she has a passion for working with newborn babies.

She aspires to continue her education and become a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.



Dacia Williams 

Dacia is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at UT Health Science Center, Houston (UTHealth) - School of Nursing.

She has been very busy over the years as she previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Education and a J.D. or Law Degree.

She has chaired the National Association of Subrogation Professionals and received numerous awards including an award for “Top Attorney” in 2012 to name one of them.  

She has served as a volunteer attorney for various non-profit organizations.

She presently serves as the Southminster School Youth Head Cheerleading Coach, and is on the YMCA Board of Directors.

With her legal background, she plans to be a dual practitioner and focus on social security disability, guardianships, & elder abuse while practicing as a nurse in hospice, oncology, and gerontology.



Kamyne Wynne – sponsored by Marilyn and Cedric Johnson 

Kamyne is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at UT Health Science Center, Houston (UTHealth) - School of Nursing.

She is a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

While completing some of her pre-requisite coursesat UT San Antonio, she worked as a tutor and assisted over 300 students.

She has participated in many community service activities including over 200 volunteer hours at the GETCAP Head Start in Huntsville, her home town; the Food Bank, the March of Dimes Walk, the Heart Walk, and the Boys & Girls Club of East Side, all in San Antonio. She also volunteers at Creekside Nursing Home.  

She is a member of the UTSON Diversity Student Nurse Association.

She plans to attend graduate school and become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
